Japanese player Kyōka Okamura won her second-round qualifying match at the WTA 500 tournament in Singapore. Seeded seventh, she beat compatriot Mei Yamaguchi, the third seed, 6-1, 6-1. According to rank.tennis, Yamaguchi is ranked No. 259 with 295 points. The tournament is played on hard court, and the prize money is $1.2 million.

Both sets ended the same way, 6-1. Yamaguchi won one game in each set, and Okamura needed 57 minutes to finish the match.

In the first round of qualifying, Okamura beat Eva Marie Desvignes 7-6(2), 6-3. Before this match, Yamaguchi defeated Ulrikke Eikeri 6-1, 6-4. The head-to-head now stands at 1:0 in Okamura’s favor.
