First to walk the runway herself, then a few days later to watch the show from the front row: that was Aryna Sabalenka's Milan week. On 25 September 2026, she attended the Gucci spring-summer 2027 presentation at Milan Fashion Week together with Jannik Sinner. Both are global ambassadors for the brand. But the most talked-about moment from the meeting was not the front row: backstage, Anna Wintour asked Aryna about her debut at Vogue World: Milano, and the tennis player spoke about the nerves she felt walking the runway.

Gucci front row

Vogue Italia broke down Sabalenka's look in detail: a строгий white satin trouser suit, a fitted three-button jacket, straight-leg trousers. She paired it with black décolleté pumps and a black structured bag with the brand's gold morsetto. This was the outfit Aryna chose for her role as a show guest at Gucci. Here the focus was on the suit and accessories, without the need to repeat the look she had worn at Vogue World a few days earlier.

The show itself took place in the giant Allianz Mi-Co pavilion. According to Vogue, Wallpaper* and ELLE, the space was set up like a "Gucci store": the presentation became another show in the brand's new era under Demna. Wallpaper* later included it among the best shows of Milan Fashion Week, separately highlighting the store-like set design, the silhouettes and the references to the house's codes. Sabalenka had a chance to take in the whole production, including the décor and the overall set design.

Sinner sat nearby with Anna Wintour, a moment captured by photographers and in Vogue's front-row roundups. LaPresse and Corriere della Sera also reported his presence at the show: fans and photographers were waiting for the tennis player at the entrance. Vogue Italia described Sinner and Sabalenka's joint appearance as a Gucci duo and noted how prominent their front-row moment was at MFW. In this case, what united them was the brand itself: Aryna has represented it since January 2026, Jannik since 2022.

A walk that turned out harder than tennis

A few days before Gucci's show, Sabalenka took part in Vogue World 2026: Milano. According to Vogue and Vogue Italia, her runway debut took place in the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, in the Made in Italy act. For the appearance, she wore a fitted chocolate-brown Gucci turtleneck dress from the pre-fall 2026 collection, with microsequins. WTA also dedicated a post to the event, accompanying it with images from the Galleria and reminding readers of Aryna's ambassadorship.

Wintour returned to that experience in a backstage conversation at Gucci. As Vogue Italia reports, she asked the tennis player about her first runway show; video of their exchange later spread on social media. In response, Sabalenka did not pretend to be completely unflustered. She spoke both about the intense nerves before going out and about how much she enjoyed the experience itself.

"It was fantastic. I was super nervous. My pulse was racing like never before. But the experience was amazing. Thank you," Aryna Sabalenka said in an interview with Vogue Italia.api.tennis

Sinner summed up the comparison between the two worlds even more briefly: "Playing tennis is easier." Vogue Italia quoted his words in the same piece. That was Jannik's own comment, not a conclusion about how athletes in general feel at fashion events. Sabalenka's account of her debut was much more specific: the unfamiliar walk came with nerves, but she described it as an amazing experience.

More than just an invitation to a show

Sabalenka's Milan appearances continued her collaboration with Gucci, which began in January. In May 2026, she appeared on a digital Vogue cover entirely in the brand's looks. In the profile, the publication also noted the Audemars Piguet watch she wore during the shoot. So the September story is not limited to a single invitation to the front row: before that came the cover, a fashion shoot in Gucci clothes, and then participation in Vogue World.

"I love Demna. I always really loved his work, and it’s amazing what he does," Aryna Sabalenka said on The Run-Through podcast. Vogue quotes the remark.api.tennis

Sabalenka expressed her admiration for Demna's work herself: Vogue quoted her words in a piece dated 22 September. Off court, her partnerships are not limited to the fashion house. On 15 January, Emirates announced Aryna as its first tennis ambassador and unveiled a special tennis-themed A380 livery to mark the announcement. In August, Moroccanoil announced her as a new global ambassador. And Sabalenka's status as a friend of Audemars Piguet was previously written about on LinkedIn by the manufacture itself and its CEO, Ilaria Resta.

A season beyond the fashion headlines

Against the backdrop of the Milan coverage, the sporting context has not gone anywhere. In the season statistics cited, Sabalenka is second in the WTA singles rankings, with 47 wins and nine defeats. In spring, she won Indian Wells and Miami to complete the Sunshine Double. According to WTA and BBC Sport, Aryna became the fifth woman in history to achieve that feat. Those results are a separate part of her season, not an explanation for the interest in fashion.

The last tournament before her Milan appearances in her match list was the US Open. Sabalenka reached the final, beating, among others, Linda Noskova in the quarterfinal and Jessica Pegula in the semifinal along the way. In the title match on 12 September, she lost to Elena Rybakina: 4:6, 7:5, 2:6. There are no details on how that result affected her off-court plans: the trip to Milan and the appearance in New York remain the two confirmed events of September.

On 28 September, WTA announced that Sabalenka had qualified for the WTA Finals for the sixth straight season. The next day, in a piece about the path to that result, the tour quoted Aryna on work, discipline and consistency. After the account of the nerves before the runway, this is a different conversation: about how the tennis player herself describes her sporting achievements.

"All the hard work, dedication, discipline and consistency really led me to this crazy number," Aryna Sabalenka said according to WTA.api.tennis

Beijing after Milan

Her next tournament stop was Beijing. According to the WTA calendar and information from the LTA, the WTA 1000 event runs from 30 September to 11 October. Sabalenka's return to the court is no longer just an announcement: on 2 October, she won her second-round match against Renata Zarazua 6:1, 6:3. So the fashion-week story had a very specific sporting continuation by then.

Milan left two different images: Sabalenka on the Vogue World runway and Sabalenka in Gucci's front row. Between them was a brief conversation with Wintour, in which Aryna called the new experience both nerve-racking and amazing. Now her calendar is back to tournament matches, and her qualification for the WTA Finals has already been confirmed by WTA.
