Biography
Aaron Funk is a German tennis player born on 26 January 2006; he is right-handed. He grew up in the area around Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg, and the local press links him with two clubs in the district, SV Böblingen and TSC Renningen. In his junior years he was registered in the American college recruiting system as a member of the class of 2024. Funk made his senior debut in 2023, while still a junior, playing only eight matches then, but in 2024 he established himself on the calendar of the lowest professional ITF series and finished the season with a record of 22–12, and in 2025 and 2026 he raised his workload to almost sixty matches a year: 33 wins against 25 losses and 35 wins against 26 losses respectively. Alongside this he has been collecting wins at home events: he won the open championship in Ostfildern and then the Kepler Cup in Weil der Stadt, where he did not drop a set throughout the tournament and beat Adrian Koehler in the final 6–2, 6–4. Funk had come to the same tournament eleven years earlier as a boy in the under-9 category. The German does best on hard courts, while on clay his record is so far negative. He reached his career-high ATP singles ranking in the 2026 season; he plays doubles noticeably less often, and his best result there is 1187th.
