Biography
Aleksandar Kovacevic was born on June 12, 1998, in New York, into a family of Serbian immigrants. He is right-handed, with a two-handed backhand.
He played tennis in his youth in the United States, and he built his college career at the University of Illinois: in 2019 he won the NCAA singles championship, one of the few players of European descent to achieve such a result in American college tennis.
He turned professional in 2022 and already in the following season drew attention to himself: at the 2023 US Open he reached the third round, defeating several top-100 players before losing to a more decorated opponent. That same year he received a call-up to the US Davis Cup team.
By the mid-2020s he had established himself in the top 100 of the world ranking, climbing to career-high positions in singles; he also competes in doubles. As of September 2026, he is ranked 82nd in the ATP singles rankings and 97th in doubles.
