Biography

Alessandro Spadola is an Italian tennis player, born on 5 March 2003 and representing Turin. He plays left-handed; he described his own style as that of a counterattacking baseliner with clean technique and a good sense of when to move forward. In his junior years Spadola was considered one of the most promising Piedmontese of his generation. In March 2022 he won the tenth Memorial Morra — an open national tournament of category 2.3 — defeating Matteo Rosingana in the final 6–4, 6–4; at that time he played for the club Verde Lauro Fiorito and held the Italian classification 2.3. In the same season the Italian federation gave him a wild card into the qualifying of the home Challenger in Turin. At the domestic level he continued to reach deciding matches: in the final of an open tournament in Villanova Mondovì, Spadola lost to fellow countryman Edoardo Zanada, and that match turned into a Turin derby. On the professional tour the Italian focused primarily on doubles: his regular partner became compatriot Matteo Vavassori, with whom he plays ITF tournaments and the qualifying draws of bigger competitions. It is precisely the doubles results that have taken Spadola noticeably higher than his singles positions, while he has no titles in main draws yet.
