Biography
Alexander Blockx was born on April 8, 2005, in Antwerp. He is right-handed and stands 193 cm tall. He took up tennis at the age of four.
As a junior, he climbed to No. 1 in the ITF world rankings (May 2023) and won the 2023 Australian Open junior title in singles, defeating Learner Tien in the final; in doubles at the same tournament, partnering Joao Fonseca, he reached the final.
He made his debut on the adult tour in 2022, and in 2023 claimed two ITF titles, in Glasgow and Sunderland. Since 2024 he has competed on the Challenger circuit, where he has won four tournaments (Kobe, Oeiras, Bratislava, Canberra) and lost two more finals. Since 2024 he has played for Belgium's Davis Cup team, and at the end of 2025 he reached the final of the Next Gen ATP Finals, losing to Tien.
The 2026 season proved to be a breakthrough: a semifinal at the ATP Masters 1000 in Madrid (with wins over Auger-Aliassime, Cerundolo, and Ruud, before losing to Zverev), his first ATP Tour final in Estoril (lost to Luca Van Assche), and a quarterfinal at the US Open, a first in history for a Belgian man in singles at that tournament. At Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the Australian Open he was stopped in the first round. His career-high singles ranking is No. 27 (September 2026), and he is Belgium's No. 1 player.
