Biography
Andrés Molteni was born on March 15, 1988, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He plays right-handed, uses a two-handed backhand, and stands 180 centimeters tall. He started playing tennis at the age of five at a local club together with his family and turned professional in 2005. Early in his career, Molteni also competed in singles: in 2011 he won his first Challenger title in Salinas, defeating compatriot Horacio Zeballos in the final, and on May 9 of that year he reached his career-high ranking of 181st in the ATP rankings. Gradually, however, the Argentine focused on doubles, where his results proved far more significant. His first notable title at ATP level came in Atlanta in 2016 alongside Horacio Zeballos. Molteni went on to play with several partners, including Guillermo Duran, Adil Shamasdin, Roman Jebavy, and Santiago Gonzalez. He first teamed up with Maximo Gonzalez at a Challenger tournament in Sao Paulo in 2014. Until 2023 they played together only periodically, but from 2023 they became a permanent pairing. Together they won their first ATP title in Gijon in 2022, then went on to have the best season of Molteni's career: in 2023 they claimed five titles in five finals, in Cordoba, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, Washington, and at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati triumph was the Argentine's biggest achievement and helped him rise to seventh place in the ATP doubles rankings on August 21, 2023. That same season, Molteni and Gonzalez made their debut at the ATP Finals. At Grand Slam tournaments, Molteni's best results were quarterfinals at Roland Garros and the US Open in 2023; in 2024 he also reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. Partnering Gonzalez, he represented Argentina at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As of September 2026, Molteni has 18 ATP doubles titles to his name, including one ATP Masters 1000 title, with career-high rankings of 181st in singles and 7th in doubles.
