Barbora Krejčíková

Biography

Barbora Krejcikova was born on December 18, 1995, in Brno, Czech Republic. She first came to the tennis courts at around three years old together with her mother and older brother, and began playing tennis regularly from the age of six. She plays right-handed, uses a two-handed backhand, and stands 178 centimeters tall. During her junior years, Krejcikova quickly became one of the strongest players of her generation: on October 28, 2013, she rose to third place in the world ranking among players under 18, won the European Championship in singles and doubles, and also claimed three Grand Slam titles in doubles. All three of her junior victories at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open in 2013 were achieved together with Katerina Siniakova. Their partnership began by chance precisely at the junior Roland Garros, after which they decided to keep playing together. At the professional level, Krejcikova made her debut in 2010 at an ITF tournament in Piestany. In 2014, she played her first main-draw match at a WTA tournament, and in 2015 she won her first WTA doubles title in Quebec. In singles, her breakthrough came in the 2021 season: she won her first titles in Strasbourg and Prague, then won Roland Garros, defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final. In Paris she also claimed the doubles title alongside Siniakova, and later won Olympic gold in Tokyo and the WTA Finals. In 2022, Krejcikova reached a career-high world No. 2 in singles, and in doubles she completed the career Grand Slam with a US Open title. In 2023, she won tournaments in Dubai and San Diego, defeating then world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the Dubai final. In 2024, she became Wimbledon singles champion, and in 2025 she won the tournament in Seoul together with Siniakova. In 2026, she added a singles title in Athens to her list. Krejcikova has won nine WTA singles titles and 20 doubles titles; her career-high rankings are No. 2 in singles and No. 1 in doubles. In mixed doubles, she has won the Australian Open three times: in 2019 and 2021 with Rajeev Ram, and in 2020 with Nikola Mektic. In doubles, her regular partner since 2013 has been Katerina Siniakova.
