Biography

Hong Yi Cody Wong was born on 14 March 2002 in Hong Kong. She started playing tennis at the age of three and prefers playing on hard courts.

As a junior she achieved the best results among Hong Kong female players at Grand Slam tournaments: in 2019 she reached the semifinals of the US Open in doubles and the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, and in 2020 the quarterfinals of the Australian Open singles, the first for a Hong Kong representative since Patricia Hy-Boulais in 1983. Her highest junior ranking was No. 18.

On the senior tour she first took the court at a WTA event in 2016 in Hong Kong on a wild card into the qualifying, and since 2017 she has played ITF tournaments regularly. She won her first singles title in October 2019 in Hua Hin; by the end of 2022 she had a 47–34 record in singles. Her career-high singles ranking is No. 319 (26 June 2023). She first reached the main draw of a WTA tournament in 2023 at the home tournament in Hong Kong, losing in the first round.

She has had her main successes in doubles: she has more than 25 ITF titles, most often playing together with Eudice Chong. In September 2025 she reached the final of a WTA 125 tournament for the first time — in Jinshan with Lee Ya-hsin, and in April 2026 she won her first W100-level title in Tokyo with Alexandra Osborne. She also plays for the Hong Kong team in the Billie Jean King Cup. In autumn 2026 she is ranked about No. 145 in the doubles rankings — higher than the career high of 152 (July 2026) stated in the articles.
