Biography

Ioannis Kountourakis is a Greek tennis player born on 16 November 2002. A right-hander, he is about 191 cm tall. His competitive schedule consists of lower-level professional ITF tournaments — primarily M15 and M25 — and starts in the domestic Greek season, where in recent years he has been among the strongest players in the country. In 2026 Kountourakis won the Greek Cup: in the final, played in Thessaloniki, he beat Andreas Mesis 7:6, 6:4. Over four editions of this tournament the title has gone to four different players — before Kountourakis the champions were Giannis Papounidis, Vladimir Holban and Christos Antonopoulos. In the same season he also played in the final of the Greek national championship. His doubles play brings him more significant results: in August 2026, together with his compatriot Hatziavraam, he reached the final of an ITF tournament in Serbia — it was this result that took him to his career high in the ATP doubles rankings, set very recently. Open sources contain no detailed biographical note on Kountourakis: neither the beginning of his tennis, nor his club affiliation, nor his junior results are disclosed.
