Biography
Iva Jovic was born on December 6, 2007 in Torrance, California, to a family of Serbian and Croatian immigrants. She is right-handed. She started playing tennis at the age of five.
She rose to No. 2 in the ITF junior rankings (September 2024). That same year, together with Tyra Grant, she won the Grand Slam junior doubles titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, reached the final at Roland Garros, and made the singles semifinal at the US Open.
She began her professional career in 2022, with her debut tournament being a W15 event in Los Angeles, where she reached the final right away. Between 2023 and 2025, she won four ITF titles. In August 2024, she made her Grand Slam debut at the US Open, beating Magda Linette in the first round and becoming the youngest American to win a main draw match at this tournament since 2000. In 2025, she broke into the top 100 for the first time, won the WTA 125 tournament in Ilkley, and in September claimed her first WTA title, a 500-level event in Guadalajara.
In 2026, she beat a top-10 opponent for the first time, Jasmine Paolini, on her way to the quarterfinal at the Australian Open, reached the fourth round of Wimbledon and the US Open, and the third round of Roland Garros. In total, Jovic has one WTA title (Guadalajara 2025, WTA 500 category) and one WTA 125 title (Ilkley 2025).
