Kanon Sawashiro

Biography

Kanon Sawashiro is a Japanese tennis player born on July 29, 2008. She is right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She is one of the most notable players of her age group in Japan: she has climbed as high as 15th in the ITF junior rankings, regularly reached the main draws of top-category junior tournaments, and received seeding at junior Grand Slam events. In January 2026, she was seeded tenth at the Australian Open junior tournament and reached the quarterfinal, her best result at this level so far. At the same time, Sawashiro has been steadily accumulating points on the adult tour. The 2026 season turned out to be packed, with around a dozen and a half tournaments and a notably positive win-loss balance, mostly at W15 level events. In May 2026, she won her first professional singles title at the W15 tournament in Toyama, where in the final she defeated fellow Japanese player Shiho Tsujioka 6:2, 6:3 in just over an hour. The bulk of her adult schedule still consists of lower-category Japanese tournaments, where she continues to combine adult and junior events.
