Biography
Lilli Tagger was born on February 17, 2008 in Lienz, Austria. She is right-handed with a one-handed backhand and stands 185 cm tall.
As a junior, she climbed to No. 3 in the ITF world rankings: in 2025 she reached the semifinal of the Australian Open junior championship, the first Austrian to do so since 2006, and won the singles title at the French Open junior championship, defeating Britain's Hannah Klugman in the final, the first Grand Slam junior singles title for Austria.
At the senior level, she played her first ITF final in November 2023 in Sharm El Sheikh, and in July 2024 claimed her first title, in doubles, in Viserba, partnering Anastasia Bertacchi. In March 2025, she won her first ITF singles title, in Terrassa, and that autumn made her WTA main draw debut on a wild card, immediately reaching the final in Jiujiang, defeating defending champion Viktorija Golubic along the way but losing in the final to Anna Blinkova. In September she claimed two more ITF titles in a row, in Bucharest and Kursumlijska Banja.
In January 2026, she won a $100,000 ITF event in Fujairah, and in February reached the final of the WTA 125 tournament in Mumbai. In April she reached the quarterfinal of the WTA 500 tournament in Linz and entered the top 100 for the first time. In May she made her main draw debut at Roland Garros. In July she won the WTA 250 tournament in Prague, her first WTA title, defeating Barbora Krejcikova along the way, and broke into the top 50.
She currently sits at No. 46 in the singles rankings, with a career-high ranking of No. 45 (July 27, 2026). Her record includes one WTA title, a WTA 125 final, and four ITF singles titles.
