Biography

Maxence Bertimon was born on 20 September 1999, grew up in Champagne-sur-Seine near Paris and studied at the Lycée François Couperin. He is a right-hander, 185 cm tall. Like many French players of his generation, he chose the American college path: in 2019/20 he played for Georgia Gwinnett, where in spring 2020 he topped the ITA singles rankings among NAIA teams and received the national player of the week title from UTR and the ITA. Bertimon then moved to Virginia Commonwealth University and played there together with his twin brother Charles. His final season, 2022/23, was his best: a record of 18–13 in singles and 21–11 in doubles, 17–9 of which came specifically in the duo with his brother. The team won its sixth consecutive Atlantic 10 title, and Maxence himself made its first all-conference team and was twice named the conference's player of the week during the spring — on 28 March and 26 April; he had received similar awards the season before. After university he concentrated on the professional tour, where he plays M15 and M25 events and where his results come primarily in doubles.
