Biography

Miomir Kecmanovic was born on August 31, 1999, in Belgrade, Serbia. He plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand, and stands 183 cm tall. He started playing tennis at the age of six, and at 13 he moved to Florida to continue his training at the IMG Academy. At the junior level, Kecmanovic quickly established himself among the leaders of his generation: in 2015 he won the prestigious Orange Bowl, repeated that success in 2016, and finished the season as the world's No. 1 junior. In 2016, he also reached the final of the US Open junior tournament. He began his professional career in 2017. In 2019, he made a strong impression at Indian Wells, where he entered as a lucky loser and reached the quarterfinal. That same season, he advanced to the semifinal of the ATP Next Gen Finals for players under 21, beating Casper Ruud and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, before losing to future champion Jannik Sinner. He claimed his first ATP title in 2020 on the clay of Kitzbuhel. In 2021, he scored a notable win over Andrey Rublev in Halle, and in 2022 he defeated Matteo Berrettini, then ranked sixth in the world, in the fourth round of Indian Wells. That same season, Kecmanovic reached the quarterfinals of Indian Wells and Miami, and at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon he posted what were then his best Grand Slam results: a fourth round and two third rounds, respectively. In 2023, he played two ATP finals, in Delray Beach and Estoril, losing to Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud. On January 16, 2023, he reached a career-high ranking of 27th in singles. He won his second ATP title in 2025 in Delray Beach, saving two match points in the final against Davidovich Fokina. In total, the Serb has claimed two ATP singles titles and played in two more finals. His best results at Grand Slam tournaments remain fourth-round appearances at the Australian Open in 2022 and 2024.
