Biography
Oliver Tarvet was born on 29 October 2003 in St Albans (Hertfordshire). He started playing tennis at the age of six at the Butchwood academy, and later trained at Unique Tennis London. He took his school exams by correspondence, combining study with tournaments, and from 2022 to 2026 played for the University of San Diego, where for four years in a row he was named an ITA Singles All-American — a record for that program.
In 2023 he won his first professional tournament — an ITF Futures event in Monastir. In June 2025, still an amateur and ranked around the 700s, he received a wild card into Wimbledon qualifying: he beat Terence Atmane, Alexis Galarneau and Alexander Blockx, reached the main draw and recorded his first career win at a Grand Slam there — over Leandro Riedi — before losing in the second round to the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. To preserve his amateur status he had to give up most of the prize money.
In 2026, after graduating from university, he turned professional. He again received a wild card into Wimbledon and again came through qualifying without dropping a set, beating Alex Bolt, Galarneau and Stefanos Sakellaridis — becoming the third Briton in history to qualify for the tournament two years in a row; in the first round of the main draw he lost to Arthur Rinderknech. After Wimbledon he won an ITF tournament in Aldershot, and in August took his first ATP Challenger title — in Roehampton, defeating Luke Pullen in the final.
His career-high singles ranking is No. 302 (14 September 2026). He has five ITF titles (2023–2026) and one ATP Challenger title.
