Oscar Weightman

Biography

Oscar Weightman was born on 19 November 2001 in London. He is about 188 cm tall and attended Reed's School in Britain. As a junior he rose to 69th in the ITF world rankings. He began his senior career early: at the turn of March and April 2022, with almost no ranking points, he came through qualifying at an ITF tournament with $15,000 prize money in Monastir, Tunisia, and won the whole event, dropping only one set in the main draw; in the final he beat Japan's Jumpei Yamasaki 6–2, 6–2, even though his opponent was ranked more than 500 places higher. This was his first professional title, and in doubles at the same event he reached the semifinals. In August 2022 Weightman reached his career-high ATP singles ranking of 603rd; in doubles he rose to 593rd and in 2023 won four titles. In December 2023 the Briton accepted an offer from the American university USC and has played for the Trojans in the NCAA since 2024. In the 2024/25 season he played mainly at third singles and brought the team the deciding point in the derby against UCLA on 1 April, while in doubles he most often took the court with Vladimir Yakubenko. He studies philosophy and plans to return to the professional tour after graduating.
