Rahul Dhokia

Biography

Rahul Dhokia was born on 9 July 2000 and grew up in Leicester. A right-hander, he is 183 centimeters tall. As a junior he went through the whole British system: he reached the highest playing grade available in the country, won junior tournaments on the European tour — in singles in Dublin and in doubles at an English event — and in total reached nine ITF finals. He has a singles title at a grade-four tournament in Hamburg and doubles wins in Slovakia and Montenegro in 2018; in that same year he played junior Wimbledon. Next came college tennis in the United States, at three universities. From 2019 to 2021 Dhokia played for Baylor University: the team won the regular season and the Big 12 conference tournament, topped the national rankings for the first time since 2005 and reached the NCAA final. He then moved to Texas A&M, where in 2022/23 he recorded eleven wins against five losses in singles. He spent his final year at the University of California, Irvine: in 2023/24 he was named to the first team of the Big West conference in doubles, won eight of ten singles matches and played doubles mainly with Noah Zamora, beating, among others, a ranked pair from UC Santa Barbara. At the professional level Dhokia competes at ITF events in Europe and Africa; in the ITF rankings he rose to No. 267.
