Samantha Alicea was born on 26 September 1999, grew up in Miami, Florida, attended Palmetto High School and plays right-handed. As a junior she was among the elite of the 2018 national recruiting class: a five-star rating, roughly 45th in the ranking of her graduating class, and state tennis player of the year according to the local press. After signing a letter of intent she went to Arizona State University, played two seasons there, and then moved to Nebraska, where her best college years took place. In her final season Alicea won 19 singles matches, went 16–1 in doubles with Raphaelle Lacasse and in March 2023 was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week. She was twice named to the Big Ten academic team, in 2022 she received the Arthur Ashe scholarship award, and in May 2023 she graduated with a degree in psychology. On the professional tour she has concentrated almost exclusively on doubles and plays ITF tournaments in the United States and Europe; in 2025 she won two lower-category titles. Her regular partner is American Malkia Ngounoue, listed in WTA entries under the surname Menguene: together they spent the entire 2026 season, from events in Florida and Alabama to Greece and Italy. Her career-high doubles ranking is No. 434.
