Biography
Tim Puetz was born on 19 November 1987 in Frankfurt am Main. He is right-handed and 185 cm tall. He began playing tennis at the age of three with his father Manfred, a tennis coach; he later studied at Auburn University in the United States, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics.
He has played at the senior level since 2006, but regularly only since 2011. In singles he rose to No. 165 in the rankings (2 February 2015), won Futures-level tournaments and in 2014 reached the second round of Wimbledon.
His main successes have come in doubles. In 2023 with Kevin Krawietz he won an ATP title in Hamburg, reached the Wimbledon semifinal and the quarterfinal at the Australian Open. In the same year he won his first Grand Slam tournament — the mixed doubles at Roland Garros with Miyu Kato. In 2024 the Puetz/Krawietz pair reached the US Open final and won the title at the ATP Finals, becoming the first all-German pair to win that tournament; the same summer Puetz competed at the Olympics in Paris, reaching the quarterfinal.
According to available records, in 2025 the pair with Krawietz rose to No. 6 in the doubles rankings — Puetz's career high — and won the Masters in Shanghai. Since 2017 Puetz has played for the Germany team in the Davis Cup. He is currently ranked tenth in the ATP doubles rankings.
