Biography
Ushna Suhail was born on 26 June 1993 in Lahore, Pakistan. She plays right-handed and uses a two-handed backhand; her height is about 173 centimeters. She began playing tennis at 12, and began her professional appearances in 2011. No notable international results are recorded in junior tennis and college competitions. In 2014 Suhail, together with Sara Mansoor, became one of the first Pakistani female tennis players to compete at the Asian Games. In 2015 she reached the semifinal of Futures series tournaments in Sharm El Sheikh three times. At the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati she won bronze medals in women’s singles and in mixed doubles; in mixed doubles she played with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. In the same season Suhail became the first representative of Pakistan to enter the WTA rankings in singles and doubles. Her career high in the singles rankings is No. 943 from 12 December 2016, in doubles No. 864 from 11 July 2016. At the 2019 South Asian Games she again won bronze awards for Pakistan, including a medal in mixed doubles. She played for the national team in the Fed Cup, later renamed the Billie Jean King Cup, and became one of the most productive Pakistani female players in this team. On the professional tour she won no WTA singles titles; her international appearances took place mainly at ITF tournaments and in team competitions.
