Valentin Vacherot

Biography

Valentin Vacherot was born on November 16, 1998, in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, on the border with Monaco. He is right-handed and stands 193 cm tall. He trained from childhood at the Monte Carlo Country Club and in 2022 earned the right to represent Monaco, although he began his career under the French flag. In 2016, as a junior, he lost in the second round of the French Open to future champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, and that same year played his first final at the adult level, in Tunisia. From 2017 to 2020 he played college tennis for Texas A&M University, earning a degree in sports management.

Returning to the professional tour in 2021, he claimed several ITF titles (Monastir and New Delhi in 2021, Monastir and Quinta do Lago in 2022) and that same year, 2022, won his first Challenger title in Nonthaburi. He made his Masters debut in Monte Carlo in 2023 on a wild card, and in May 2024 came through qualifying to make his French Open debut, where he lost in the first round to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

October 2025 proved to be his breakthrough: ranked world No. 204, Vacherot came through qualifying at the Shanghai Masters and caused a sensation, beating Laslo Djere, Alexander Bublik, Tomas Machac, Tallon Griekspoor, Holger Rune, and, for the first time in his career, a top-10 player, Novak Djokovic, along the way, before defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final. He became the first Monegasque champion of an ATP tournament and the lowest-ranked champion in the history of Masters 1000 events. After Shanghai, he entered the top 30 for the first time.

In 2026, Vacherot made his Australian Open debut, where he reached the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time, advanced to the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters, beating several top-10 players along the way, and climbed to No. 16 in the world rankings (May 4, 2026), the best result ever achieved by a tennis player from Monaco. At Roland Garros, he won his first match but withdrew before the second round. In total, Vacherot has won one ATP title and four Challenger titles in singles.
