Luan

About the tournament

M25 Luan is a tournament of the men's ITF World Tennis Tour of the M25 category, regularly held in the city of Lu'an (sometimes transcribed as Lu'an) in Anhui Province, China. The M25 category belongs to the lower segment of the men's tennis professional ladder; it is a tournament with prize money of about 25,000 US dollars, the level below is only the M15 category, and the results count towards the ATP rankings, allowing players to gradually move up to ATP Challenger Tour tournaments and beyond. The surface of the venue is hard; in the calendar of different years the tournament appeared both as outdoor and as indoor, which is typical for venues used in both winter and summer. Lu'an, like many medium-sized Chinese cities, has become one of the ITF "hubs": on the same courts during the season several numbered editions in a row are held (tournaments of both M15 and M25 level appear in the calendar), which is convenient for organisers from a logistical and economic point of view, since the concentration of competitions reduces the costs of preparing courts, the officiating corps and hosting players. These tournaments feature mainly Chinese players of entry professional level, as well as athletes from neighbouring Asian countries who come to earn ranking points. Information on it is aggregated on the official ITF portal and specialised statistics resources.
