Zaragoza

About the tournament

M25 Zaragoza is a Spanish hub tournament of the men's ITF World Tennis Tour category, held annually in Zaragoza (Aragon, Spain) on outdoor clay courts. The tournament is based at the S.D. Tiro de Pichón sports club, where a series of consecutive M25 category events is regularly played on the same courts within a season. The organizers position the event as "Ciudad de Zaragoza" with commercial sponsor names (Grupo Los Sitios Open Gobierno de Aragón - Trofeo Ibercaja), while the prize fund is comparable to the standard for the M25 category — around $25,000–30,000. Such tournaments attract a wide international field of players outside the world's top 200, including young professionals and regional-level Spanish tennis players, for whom the clay courts of Aragon are a familiar training and competitive surface. The tournament's autumn slot in the calendar and Zaragoza's mild climate make the city a convenient venue for hosting a series of tournaments in a row, which reduces logistical costs for organizers and allows players to accumulate ranking points within a compact stretch of the calendar. The tournament has received ITF recognition in the form of an "organizational excellence star," underscoring its status as one of the notable M25 events in Spain, although the category itself remains an entry-level rung of the ITF professional ladder, leading to the Challenger Tour and further on to the ATP.
