Telavi

About the tournament

M15 Telavi is a men's tournament of the ITF World Tennis Tour at the very entry level of the professional ladder (M15), held in the city of Telavi in eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti region. The competition is hosted by the Telavi Tennis Club, located on Rustaveli Avenue; this is the same complex where the well-known women's tournament Telavi Open has been held for many years. The courts are outdoor clay courts, which is typical for the summer-autumn calendar of the Caucasus region: the warm climate, relatively low hosting costs, and already established infrastructure make Telavi a convenient venue for organizing several M15-category tournaments in a row during the season, hence the numbering of the tournaments (Telavi 1, 2, and so on). These tournaments feature mostly young and low-ranked professionals, including local Georgian players and tennis players from neighboring countries in the region, for whom this is one of the few accessible opportunities to earn ITF ranking points close to home. Information about the tournaments is published by the ITF, as well as by the Telavi Tennis Club's website.
