About the tournament

M15 Belem is a men's tournament in the ITF World Tennis Tour, the very entry level category of the professional ladder, held in the city of Belem in northern Brazil, in the state of Para, on outdoor hard courts. M15 level tournaments are the lowest tier of men's professional tennis, the next step after the junior and college level before moving on to the more prestigious M25 and Challenger tournaments; the prize money here is minimal, and the participants are mostly young Brazilian and Latin American players just starting their way up the ATP rankings, as well as experienced veterans keeping up their points through local tournaments. The staging of such tournaments in Belem and other Brazilian cities is explained by the relatively low cost of organization, the warm tropical climate allowing play year round, and the density of the Brazilian national calendar, where the federation organizes series of tournaments back to back on the same courts, giving players a chance to earn ranking points without long trips. No specific information about an official organizing club, a dedicated website, or social media for the tournament could be found; events of this M15 level are usually covered only on the ITF website and in general calendars, without their own media presence.
