Curitiba

About the tournament

M15 Curitiba is a men's ITF World Tennis Tour tournament at the entry-level M15 category, held in the city of Curitiba, the administrative center of the Brazilian state of Parana. The M15 category is the lowest rung of the ITF professional ladder for men, offering the minimum prize fund and the minimum number of ATP points; such tournaments serve as a launching pad for young players and as a venue for rebuilding rankings for more experienced tennis players, predominantly from South America. Tournaments in Curitiba are traditionally held on outdoor clay courts, the surface that dominates the Brazilian and South American calendar in general due to the climate and the relatively low cost of maintaining such courts. Tournaments in this city are organized by the regional tennis federation of the state of Parana (FPT), which holds several editions in a row during the season on the same courts, which is typical for lower-tier ITF tournaments, helping federations save on logistics and attract the same players to a series of competitions. In recent years, the M15 series tournaments in Curitiba have been hosted by the Santa Monica club. The federation's general website is operational.
