About the tournament
M15 Sharm El Sheikh is a lower-tier men's professional tournament on the ITF World Tennis Tour, held in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh on the Red Sea coast. The M15 category (formerly known as "Futures") represents the entry level of adult professional tennis, where young players and those dropping down from higher levels after injuries or a loss of form earn their first ranking points. Matches are played on outdoor hard courts, which is typical for Egyptian tennis tournaments and is explained by the mild winter climate of the coast, allowing comfortable play during the months that are cold in Europe. Sharm El Sheikh is one of the so-called "hubs" of the ITF calendar: several numbered events are organized in a row on the same courts during the season (usually in autumn and winter), often in combination with M25 category tournaments and women's W-tournaments. This tight sequence of tournaments is economically beneficial for organizers and the federation, reducing costs on logistics, officials, and accreditation, while allowing players to conveniently stay in one place and earn points across several tournaments without long travel. The level of participants consists mainly of players outside the world's top 1000 in the ATP ranking, among whom there are many representatives from Eastern Europe, the CIS, and Egypt itself. The official website and up-to-date calendar of specific events are published on the ITF Tennis portal.
