Guiyang

About the tournament

M25 Guiyang is a men's tournament of the lower professional echelon of the ITF World Tennis Tour, held in the city of Guiyang, the administrative center of Guizhou Province in southwestern China. The M25 category refers to tournaments with a prize fund of about 25 thousand US dollars, one of the starting rungs of the professional ladder, a notch above the base M15 category, but noticeably below the Challenger level and even more so below the ATP main draw. Such tournaments mainly attract young players earning their first ranking points, as well as experienced players ranked in the second or third hundred of the world rankings who use the Asian series to stabilize their position in the rankings. Guiyang is among the Chinese tennis centers where several numbered tournaments are held in succession during the season on the same outdoor hard courts, a typical practice for China that allows organizers and the federation to save on logistics, officiating and infrastructure, while allowing players to build a tight series of competitions without long travel. The official website of a specific edition is usually published on the ITF portal.
