Slobozia

About the tournament

M25 Slobozia is a men's tournament on the ITF World Tennis Tour, held in the Romanian city of Slobozia (Ialomita County). The M25 category belongs to the entry level of the professional ATP system, one step above M15 tournaments and several steps below the Challenger Tour, and is intended primarily for players outside the top 1,000 of the world rankings, as well as for young athletes earning their first ranking points. Slobozia is a typical "hub" for Romania and Eastern Europe: on the local clay courts, several ITF tournaments are traditionally held in succession during the season, with the city hosting men's competitions of various categories (M15, M25) as well as women's events (W25, W50). Such a dense concentration of tournaments at a single venue is typical of organizers from Romania, where the clay surface, moderate climate during the warm season, and relatively low hosting costs make it economical to run a whole series of tournaments in a row without players and officiating crews having to travel. The surface is clay (outdoor courts), which makes the competition attractive to clay-court specialists from Romania and neighboring countries.
