About the tournament
M25 Zlatibor is a men's ITF World Tennis Tour tournament in the M25 category, held in the town of Zlatibor in western Serbia. This is a mountain resort known primarily as a winter and summer tourist center, which makes it a convenient venue for hosting several professional tournaments in a row at the end of the summer and beginning of the autumn season on outdoor clay courts. The tournament belongs to the lower rung of the ITF professional ladder, a category with prize money of around 25,000 dollars, one step above the entry-level M15 and below the ATP Challenger series. Such tournaments are usually contested by young players beginning their professional careers, players outside the top 300 of the ATP world ranking, as well as veterans maintaining their ranking points. The tournament surface is clay, traditionally popular in the Balkans due to the low cost of court maintenance and the region's climate, which is suitable for holding competitions in late September. The tournament calendar in Zlatibor in recent years has included several editions in a row on the same courts as part of a series of Serbian ITF tournaments, which is typical for countries in the region with a developed network of local tennis clubs and federations seeking to increase the number of available professional tournaments for local and regional players. Up-to-date information on specific editions can be found on the ITF website.
