Cipolletti

About the tournament

W15 Cipolletti is a tournament of the women's professional ITF World Tennis Tour at the very entry-level category (W15), held in the city of Cipolletti, Río Negro Province, Argentina, in the north of the country's Patagonian region. Such lowest-tier tournaments are intended for the debut steps of young female players and for players outside the top one to two hundred of the ITF/WTA ranking who are seeking their first professional points, as well as for those rebuilding their ranking after injuries. The tournament's surface is hard, on an outdoor court, which is typical for the Argentine calendar in the warm season. Argentina as a whole is popular with organizers of lower-level ITF tournaments because of the relatively low cost of staging events, the availability of courts, and a busy domestic calendar that allows entire series of tournaments to be arranged back to back in a single city or region — convenient both for the local federation and for players traveling around the continent who save on transfers. In Cipolletti, tennis traditions are linked to the local multi-sport Club Cipolletti, known primarily for its football team, as well as to several tennis clubs in the city. Information about such tournaments is usually aggregated on the official ITF portal.
