Wagga Wagga

About the tournament

W35 Wagga Wagga is a series of tournaments of the women's ITF World Tennis Tour of the W35 category, regularly held in the Australian city of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. The W35 category occupies the lower-middle step of the ITF professional ladder — on the path from junior and college tennis to W50, W60 tournaments and then to the WTA tour — and serves as a venue both for young players beginning a professional career and for players rebuilding or holding their ranking. In Wagga Wagga several numbered editions in a row are traditionally held within one calendar week or in series of weeks — such a practice is typical of the Australian autumn/spring stretch of the ITF calendar, since concentrating tournaments on the same courts reduces organisational and logistical costs for the host club and allows players who have travelled from afar to get more matches on a single trip. The tournaments are played on outdoor hard courts. The prize money of such editions is usually around 30,000 US dollars, which corresponds to the standard of the W35 category. No separate permanent official website or social media accounts specifically for this series of tournaments could be found — up-to-date information on specific editions is published on the official ITF calendar.
