Maanshan

About the tournament

W15 Ma'anshan is a grassroots-level women's tour tournament of the ITF World Tennis Tour, held in the city of Ma'anshan in Anhui Province in eastern China. Competitions of this level are traditionally hosted by the ROGT Tennis Event Center on Hu Xihuan Street in Yushan District, a hard-court venue used for both indoor and outdoor courts at different times of the season. The W15 category occupies the lowest rung of the ITF professional ladder: the prize fund is minimal (around 15 thousand dollars), and participants are predominantly young Chinese players just starting their professional path, as well as players from neighboring Asian countries picking up their first WTA ranking points. China as a whole, and Ma'anshan in particular, have become a notable point on the map of grassroots ITF tournaments thanks to a dense calendar, with several numbered editions run back to back on the same courts within a season (designated as China Women's 9, 11 and so on), which reduces logistical costs for organizers and makes it easier for a large number of players to take part without lengthy travel. Information is published on the official ITF portal.
