Baza

About the tournament

W35 Baza is a women's professional ITF World Tennis Tour tournament held in the Spanish town of Baza (Granada province, Andalusia). The W35 category belongs to the lower-middle tier of the ITF professional ladder, just above the entry-level W15, and draws players mostly from the WTA world ranking's top 200-600, as well as young tennis players earning points to advance into the main draws of larger tournaments. The competition takes place on the courts of Club de Tenis Cid Hiaya, a venue with a long history that regularly hosts ITF events on outdoor hard courts. Small Andalusian towns like Baza often serve as hosts for a series of numbered tournaments held back to back throughout the season: this allows clubs and the federation to streamline logistics, officiating and medical staff, while offering players a dense calendar without lengthy travel. The mild southern Spanish climate and relatively low cost of hosting have made such tournaments attractive to organizers for many years.

Between September 30 and October 6, the club is hosting another edition of the tournament, which has become renowned for the illustrious champions in its history.
