Nanao

About the tournament

W50 Nanao is a women's tournament in the ITF World Tennis Tour series, category W50, held in the city of Nanao in Ishikawa Prefecture on the Japanese island of Honshu. The W50 category occupies an intermediate position on the ITF professional ladder, between the lower-tier W15/W25 tournaments and the larger W75/W100 events, which makes Nanao a venue for players ranked in the late second to early third hundred of the WTA world rankings, as well as for rising Japanese youngsters and experienced players picking up points before entering the main draws of more prestigious tournaments. The surface is outdoor carpet, which is fairly typical for the Japanese autumn calendar and allows competitions to be held outdoors in the comfortable September weather.
