Islamabad

About the tournament

W15 Islamabad is a women's tournament of the entry, junior rung of the professional ITF tour (W15 category), held in the capital of Pakistan. In recent seasons Islamabad has become one of the few regular hubs of Pakistani pro tennis: men's M15 series tournaments, as well as ITF junior and team competitions, are held here on courts linked to the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) — in particular, the PTF SDA Tennis Complex in the Park Avenue area. The surface at this venue is outdoor hard courts. Parallel women's W15 editions are organised on this same infrastructure, which is typical for developing tennis countries: the local federation concentrates several tournaments in a row at one venue in order to reduce logistics costs for officials, organisers and visiting players. The level of participants at such a tournament is players from the lower part of the professional WTA rankings, often regional players from South and Central Asia, as well as young players from Europe who use such tournaments to earn their first ranking points. General information on Pakistani ITF tournaments is published by the PTF federation on its website.
