Constanta

About the tournament

W15 Constanța is a grassroots-level tournament on the ITF Women's professional tour, held in the Black Sea port city of Constanța, Romania. The W15 category occupies the entry rung of the ITF World Tennis Tour professional ladder, a level where young and lower-ranked players compete for their first WTA points while trying to work their way into higher-level main draws. Tournaments of this caliber are held in Constanța on the courts of the local tennis club "9Jumate", which organizes the events in partnership with the Ion Țiriac Foundation and the Romanian Tennis Federation, bodies that actively support the development of junior tennis in the country. The surface is outdoor clay, typical of Romanian clubs of this profile and cost-effective to maintain for running a series of lower-prize-money tournaments. Holding W15 tournaments in Constanța fits the overall logic of the ITF calendar: small towns with accessible infrastructure and mild autumn weather make it possible to host several editions in a row, giving players a tight match schedule without long travel. Information on specific editions is published on the official ITF website and on local Constanța sports resources.
