Hurghada

About the tournament

W35 Hurghada is a women's professional tournament of the lower tier of the ITF/WTT world tour, regularly held in the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada, Egypt. The W35 category belongs to the entry-to-intermediate level of women's professional tennis: the prize fund for tournaments of this category is around 25,000–30,000 dollars, and the participants are mostly players ranked outside the WTA world top 200, young professionals building up ranking points, as well as experienced players coming back from injury or winding down their careers. Hurghada, like a number of other Egyptian resorts, has become one of the tour's "hubs": thanks to the mild winter climate and the presence of several tennis clubs at hotel complexes, multiple numbered editions of the same category are held here back to back within a single season (in this case, the second tournament of this type in the season), which is convenient for organizers and allows players to save on travel by staying in the region for several weeks in a row. The surface of the tournaments in Hurghada is outdoor hard courts, which is typical for most venues in Egypt, although the city's calendar also includes events on clay or grass within other categories. Based on available data, the tournament does not appear to have its own separate official website or social media accounts; information about the events is published on the official ITF/WTT calendar and results aggregators.
