Wagga Wagga

About the tournament

W35 Wagga Wagga is a series of tournaments on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour in the W35 category, held regularly in the Australian city of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. The W35 category occupies a lower-middle rung on the ITF professional ladder — on the path from junior and college tennis to W50, W60 tournaments and further to the WTA Tour — and serves as a platform both for young players beginning their professional careers and for tennis players recovering or maintaining their ranking. Wagga Wagga traditionally hosts several numbered editions in a row within a single calendar week or over a series of weeks — a practice typical of the Australian autumn/spring stretch of the ITF calendar, since concentrating tournaments on the same courts reduces organizational and logistical costs for the host club and allows players who have traveled from afar to get more matches in during a single trip. The tournaments are played on outdoor hard courts. The prize money for these events is usually around 30,000 US dollars, which corresponds to the W35 category standard. No dedicated permanent official website or social media accounts specifically for this tournament series could be found — current information about specific editions is published on the official ITF calendar.
