Vigo

About the tournament

J200 Vigo is a junior tennis tournament from the upper tier of the ITF international ladder, held in the Spanish city of Vigo on outdoor hard courts. The tournament belongs to the G2/J200 category — following the 2019 reform of the ITF classification system, the old Grade 2 designation was replaced by the modern J200 code. The event is one of the regular stops on the European junior calendar in autumn, usually in late September or early October, and traditionally attracts strong young players from Spain and neighboring countries seeking to earn ranking points to move up to more prestigious J300 and J500 level tournaments. Like many tournaments at this level, Vigo serves as a kind of springboard: a successful performance here can be a step toward a professional career on the ATP and WTA tours. The exact history of the tournament's founding and the complete list of champions are less well documented than for higher-ranked tournaments, but the very fact that the competition has been held consistently for several seasons in a row speaks to its firm place in the Spanish junior tennis calendar.
