Chuncheon

About the tournament

J200 Chuncheon (Lee Duk Hee Cup) is an ITF junior tournament held in the South Korean city of Chuncheon on the courts of Chuncheon International Tennis Park. The tournament is named after Lee Duk Hee, a legendary South Korean player who in 1980 became the first South Korean to embark on a professional tennis career, and that same year played singles at all four Grand Slam tournaments. In her honor, South Korea hosts an entire series of junior tournaments of various categories, and the Chuncheon leg is one of the most prestigious among them, having held Grade 2 status for many years before moving into the J200 category following the 2019 reform. The tournament is part of the busy Korean junior calendar alongside events in Jeju, Yanggu and Incheon, is played on outdoor hard courts, and traditionally attracts strong fields from Korea, Japan, China and other Asian countries, as well as players touring the region as part of extended Asian swings. Many juniors who went on to compete on the adult ATP and WTA tours have come through the tournament's draw.
