Sanxenxo

About the tournament

Sanxenxo is a prestigious ITF junior tournament held in the Galician town of Sanxenxo (province of Pontevedra, Spain) on outdoor hard courts. It is organized by the Círculo Cultural Deportivo Sanxenxo, and the tournament has been running for more than twenty years, evolving from one of the first events of its kind in Spain into a Grade 1 / J300 tournament, one of the pinnacles of the junior ladder. Alongside the Juan Carlos Ferrero Academy, it is the only venue in Spain that the ITF has entrusted with a tournament of this level. Every year the organizers receive more than 500 entries from juniors around the world. The tournament's greatest source of pride is its list of former participants: Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud all played on the courts of Sanxenxo during their junior years, and all of them later broke into the ATP top ten. Alcaraz himself lost in the final of this tournament during his junior years. Such a rich history of star graduates makes Sanxenxo one of the most telling "launching pads" in modern men's and women's tennis.
