About the tournament
Wuhan Open - Wuhan, CHN is a Chinese tournament, the Wuhan Open, of the WTA 1000 category (before the reform of the tour, WTA Premier 5). It has been held since 2014 on the outdoor hard courts of the Optics Valley tennis centre. The tournament was not held from 2020 to 2023 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in 2024. The title sponsor is the car manufacturer Dongfeng, which changed sub-brands in different years (Dongfeng Motor, then Dongfeng Voyah). The tournament record for the number of singles titles belongs to Aryna Sabalenka, with 3 wins (2018, 2019, 2024); Petra Kvitova also won the tournament twice (2014, 2016).
