Tatiana Prozorova defeated Sofia Costoulas in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament in Singapore. The match lasted 170 minutes and ended 5-7 7-6(2) 6-2 in favor of the Russian, who won two of the three sets.
The turning point came in the second set
Costoulas took the first set 7-5. In the second, the two players again went all the way to a tiebreak, where Prozorova prevailed 7-2 to level the match. In the deciding set, momentum shifted to Prozorova, who sealed the win 6-2.
Over the course of the match, both players hit 5 aces. Prozorova won 44 points on her serve against 41 for Costoulas, with similar first-serve-in figures: 60 to 55. The Russian converted 4 of 10 break points, while her opponent took 3 of 7. Overall in the match, Prozorova won 110 points, Costoulas 98.
