Duckworth could not take a set on the hard courts in Shanghai, although he came noticeably closer in the second set than in the first. Hurkacz did not need a deciding set.
In their previous meetings listed by api.tennis, Duckworth had won: 7-6, 6-4 in Halle in 2024 and 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 in Paris in 2021. This time in Shanghai, Hurkacz came out on top.
