On October 5, 2026, Alexandra Eala arrived at the Grand Palais for Chanel Spring/Summer 2027. For the 21-year-old tennis player from the Philippines, it was her first appearance at Paris Fashion Week, and she made it at one of the season’s most talked-about fashion houses. WTA devoted a separate feature to the event, calling Eala’s appearance in Chanel one of the notable player appearances at Paris Fashion Week.

An Evening at the Grand Palais

According to AP News and Madame Figaro, the show took place on Monday evening, in the final days of Paris Fashion Week. Beneath the Grand Palais’s glass dome, an installation featured a “flock” of illuminated birds. Fashion publications, including Wallpaper and Madame Figaro, wrote about the scale of Chanel’s return to the Grand Palais and the theme of “flight” that shaped the show.

Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy presented the collection. According to AP News and Wallpaper, the SS27 season continued his vision for the house and offered a fresh take on “tweed with a tuxedo feel.” Stars were seated in the audience: AP News and Numéro named Nicole Kidman, Dua Lipa and Pedro Pascal among the evening’s guests.

Eala attended the show with her mother, Rizza Maniego-Eala. TennisActu and Philstar’s lifestyle section reported her appearance.

The Look: Tweed, Black and House Accessories

For her debut, Eala chose the house’s signature fabric. According to WTA and TennisActu, she wore a Chanel tweed jacket over a black blouse and dark trousers. Philstar’s sports section noted the details: glasses and a Chanel bag. Photos of the look appeared in WTA and fashion publications’ photo galleries.

After the show, Eala shared her impressions in a video for Vogue Philippines. WTA quoted her.

Eala said: “It’s so surreal. To see the collection, to see Chanel in Paris. I couldn’t have wished for anything better for my first show.”api.tennis

She spoke about the collection from the perspective of someone who looks at clothes practically. She was taken by pieces that could be worn in everyday life, not just on the runway.

Eala said: “I loved the ‘twin dresses.’ Very wearable. Simple silhouettes, details, everything is very wearable.”api.tennis

Fashion as Part of Her Story

Paris was a continuation of an autumn in which fashion has played a prominent role in Eala’s life. Less than a month before Chanel, she attended New York Fashion Week. TenisBrasil headlined its report accordingly: after New York, Eala headed to the Chanel show in Paris.

In a July 2026 interview with Vogue Philippines, Eala spoke about her connection to Filipino fashion. For the 2026 Laureus ceremony, she wore a modern Filipiniana created by her uncle, designer Rhett Eala. She described her on-court style as “girly,” “confident” and “a little edgy,” and said she would like to collaborate with Filipino designers.

Eala admitted: “I have a life outside tennis.”api.tennis

Between Tournaments

At the time of the show, Eala was ranked No. 18 in the world. In the summer, she won her first WTA Tour-level title in Washington, becoming the first Filipina to win a tournament of that level in singles. The victory took her into the top 20 for the first time. In the introduction to its Paris feature, WTA wrote that Eala’s star and influence off the court continue to grow around the world.

Philstar noted that Eala “turned heads” in Paris and called the trip a “quick fashion break” before her return to the tour.

What’s Next

The break was a short one. According to WTA, Eala intends to bounce back in Wuhan the following week, at the season’s final WTA 1000 tournament. It will run from October 12 to 18, 2026. Philstar also reports that after Paris, she is heading straight back to the Asian swing of the tour in China. Her next appearance is expected on court.
