Tereza Valentova has the biggest drop in the live rankings, falling 26 places from No. 62 to No. 88. Katie Volynets makes the biggest jump, gaining 16 places, followed by Yulia Putintseva, up 15, and Caty Mcnally, up 13. The pattern is clear: almost everyone moving up earned points at the Wuhan tournament, while almost everyone falling is losing points from last year’s tournaments in Osaka, Ningbo, Jinan and Tampico.

Who benefited from Wuhan

Volynets climbs from No. 88 to No. 72, increasing her points total from 851 to 919. She earned +95 for reaching the round of 32 in Wuhan, while 27 points were deducted for her quarterfinal finish at the WTA 125 tournament in Paris. Putintseva earned the same +95 for reaching the same stage in Wuhan, while losing 30 points for her round-of-16 result in Hamburg. She moves from No. 79 to No. 64, increasing her total from 904 to 969 points. Mcnally rises from No. 70 to No. 57, moving from 958 to 1035 points, thanks to +95 for reaching the round of 32 in Wuhan and the loss of 18 points for an unsuccessful qualifying campaign in Hobart. Lanlana Tararudee earned +85 in Wuhan, while losing 27 points for her quarterfinal finish in Jiujiang, and climbed from No. 60 to No. 52 (from 1022 to 1080 points). Xiyu Wang, with +65 for reaching the round of 32 in Wuhan, moves from No. 91 to No. 82 (from 835 to 899). Daria Kasatkina earned +30 in qualifying in Wuhan and rises from No. 82 to No. 74, increasing her total from 884 to 913 points.

The cost of last year’s results

The highest-ranked player in this group, Ekaterina Alexandrova, loses 325 points for her 2025 final in Ningbo. Reaching the round of 64 in Dubai earned her just +10, so she drops from No. 24 to No. 31, with her points total falling from 1906 to 1591. Valentova loses 181 points for her 2025 final in Osaka, while her first-round qualifying win in Dubai added +2; her total falls from 1004 to 825. Osaka also affects other players: Jaqueline Cristian loses 98 points for her semifinal run and drops from No. 61 to No. 71 (from 1016 to 919), while Viktorija Golubic loses 54 points for her quarterfinal finish and moves from No. 72 to No. 80 (from 938 to 899). Hanne Vandewinkel has 125 points deducted for her title in Tampico and drops from No. 84 to No. 96 (from 866 to 752). Renata Zarazua loses 100 points for her victory at the ITF W100 tournament in Macon and falls from No. 85 to No. 94 (from 862 to 782). Anna Bondar loses 81 points for her final in Jinan and moves from No. 66 to No. 73 (from 974 to 913). Oleksandra Oliynykova loses 54 points for her quarterfinal finish in Hamburg and earns no new points, dropping from No. 51 to No. 59 (from 1082 to 1028).

The top-50 threshold

Two players cross the top-50 threshold in the live rankings, in opposite directions. Magdalena Frech breaks into the top 50: thanks to +85 for reaching the round of 32 in Wuhan, she climbs from No. 56 to No. 46, increasing her total from 1045 to 1110 points, while 20 points are deducted for qualifying in Dubai. Janice Tjen, by contrast, drops out of the top 50, falling from No. 47 to No. 54, from 1125 to 1065 points. Her +65 in Wuhan was not enough to offset the 125-point deduction for her 2025 title in Jinan. Valentova, Vandewinkel and Zarazua remain in the top 100 despite their significant drops.
