According to api.tennis, in the 2026 season Andrey Rublev played three finals and won one title. The defeat to Daniil Medvedev in Hangzhou by 5-7 4-6 left his record in championship matches negative: fewer wins in finals than losses.
Hangzhou: the road to the final and the ending
Rublev reached the AITO Hangzhou Open final with three wins. He beat Rinky Hijikata 6-3 6-3. He edged Hugo Gaston in three sets, 6-7 7-6 6-1, bouncing back after losing the opening tiebreak. In the semifinal, he beat Kyrian Jacquet 7-6 6-1. The final against Medvedev was close only in the first set, which went 5-7. In the second, Rublev lost 4-6 and did not take a set.
The season by rounds
Rublev’s overall record in 2026 stands at 32 wins and 18 losses. Looking stage by stage, the number of wins drops noticeably by the end of the draw: four in quarterfinals, three in semifinals and one in finals. Each semifinal win took him into a championship match, and after that it worked only once in three attempts.
Before Hangzhou, Rublev had gone through a long spell without deep runs. His best result was in Estoril, where he reached the quarterfinals. The week after the final, he returned to winning ways: at the China Open he beat Tallon Griekspoor 6-4 5-7 7-6.
What the ranking shows
According to rank.tennis, Rublev is currently 25th with 1930 points. In the live rankings, he moves up to 24th, where he has 2085 points.
Rublev’s season is built on regular runs to the later stages: three semifinal wins brought him three finals. He managed to turn them into titles once. Hangzhou became the second final of the year after which he left without a trophy.
