Hubert Hurkacz has reached the semifinal of the China Open in Beijing. In the quarterfinal of the ATP 500 hard-court event, the Pole beat Karen Khachanov 7-6 6-2, according to api.tennis.
Before facing Khachanov, Hurkacz played two three-set matches: in the round of 32 he defeated Learner Tien (5-7 6-3 6-4), and in the round of 16 he beat Arthur Fils (7-6 6-7 6-2). Khachanov reached the quarterfinal without dropping a set, beating Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-3 6-3) and Alex Molcan (7-5 6-3).
According to rank.tennis, Hurkacz is ranked 32nd, while Khachanov sits at 25th.
